Wersching was raised in St. Louis. She graduated from Crossroads College Preparatory School, St. Louis' Central West End in 1995. In her youth she competed as an Irish dancer and a member the St. Louis Celtic stepdancers. She holds completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theatre from Millikin University, graduating in 1999. Wersching's acting debut was her appearance in Star Trek: Enterprise.
